Your Sacred Home
Apr 20, 2023"It is your birthright to be surrounded by beauty, to know peace and joy, to live royally and happily in a sacred home that elevates your life, restores your soul, and connects you with the flow of love and prosperity of the universe."
~ Jagatjoti Khalsa
I’m on my third load of laundry this week. In addition to the regular load, I’m washing towels and blankets used to keep the mud that our dog brings in from settling into...everything.
It’s a mundane task, but I do this and the sweeping, dusting and dishes with an intention to create a sacred and healing space for myself, my man and our pets.
Home is where we can rest deeply. This is something a deep sensing person needs. As you move fully into spring, consider cleaning your home with intention. Rather than a chore, can you approach it as a ritual? Create a space that soothes your senses, feels nurturing and allows you to rest. Even if that’s just one corner of your room.
But how to balance all the cleaning with much-needed time for rest? I’m paying attention to the chatter in my mind about “doing a good job” and wanting it to be “just so.” And for the sake of rest, turning those thoughts to “good enough.” Especially, when the dog is about to track in another pile of mud.
So I sweep for five minutes and then spritz the room with a pure essential oil room spray. (This current mix is eucalyptus, tea tree and lemon.)
I throw a load in the wash and then light a candle in the sunroom.
I do dishes while my jasmine green tea brews for three minutes and then grab my journal and head to the overstuffed chair.
Intention counts. This spring, focus on rest and intention over projects and plans and notice how you feel.
This new moon and solar eclipse (April 19-20) is the perfect time to clear out the old and plant something new, whether that’s new thoughts about your cleaning habits, new ideas for a creative project, a new relationship or new work endeavor. It's also a good time to let go of an old identity and craft a new one.
What do you want life to look like six months from now? Write it down. These words are seeds that will begin to sprout and take root in your life, just like the seeds in the ground are ready to sprout.
Allow your intention to blossom right along with the spring flowers.
